The Art of Tea Ceremony

Experience a traditional tea ceremony in the Cherie Flores Garden Pavilion -- complete with serving of matcha, your very own tea bowl, and a Japanese sweet

The Japanese tea ceremony, known as the Way of Tea, is a Japanese cultural activity involving the ceremonial preparation and presentation of matcha, powdered green tea. In Japanese, it is called sadō, chadō (茶道) or chanoyu (茶の湯), while the manner in which it is performed, or the art of its performance, is called otemae (お手前).

Experience this special art form at Japan Festival of Houston.

Each tea ceremony demonstration is 45 minutes long. Please arrive 10 minutes before the demonstration time and please note that seating is limited.

Following the conclusion of the tea ceremony demonstrations, enjoy premier access to ikebana demonstrations conducted by experts in the art of Japanese flower arranging.

Kids under five are FREE! Please be advised that neither strollers nor pets will be allowed inside the Pavilion.
